Structural Steel Detailing — Tekla shop drawings for fabricators
We model in Tekla Structures, produce shop, GA and erection drawings and machine files to your fabricator's standards, and leave connection design where the law puts it — under your engineer's supervision.
Structural Steel Detailing — at a glance
- What it is: We model in Tekla Structures, produce shop, GA and erection drawings and machine files to your fabricator's standards, and leave connection design where the law puts it — under your engineer's supervision.
- Who buys it: Structural steel fabricators; Engineers and designers; Prefab and modular.
- Software: Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, SDS/2, AutoCAD, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam Revu, Trimble Connect.
- Standards and codes: AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554, AS/NZS 1170, AS 1275.
- Regulatory position: Shop and erection drawings under client supervision are within scope in every state. Connection design to AS 4100 is engineering and is done only under the documented direct supervision of your Australian-registered engineer — it is the real exposure in steel, and we treat it that way at intake.
- How to start: a fixed-fee pilot with a named Australian reviewer, converting to a dedicated seat on the second engagement.

Scope
- 3D modelling in Tekla Structures. Full model from engineer's design drawings, to your fabricator's standards, numbering and preferences.
- Shop drawings. Assembly and single-part drawings, with your title block, revision control and standard notes.
- GA and erection drawings. General arrangement and erection sequences, marking plans, and anchor bolt setout.
- Machine files. NC/DSTV, DXF and IFC exports for beam lines, plate processing and CNC.
- Bolt lists, ABM and reports. Advance bill of materials, bolt and weld summaries, cut lists.
- Connection detailing. Standard connections to your engineer's connection schedule; any connection design to AS 4100 only under documented supervision.
Software we work in
Standards and codes
We work inside your environment on a virtual desktop. Your templates, your title block, your naming.
Built for
Structural steel fabricators
Shop and erection drawings, NC files and bolt lists for SCA-certified and non-certified fabricators alike.
FabricatorsEngineers and designers
Model build and documentation from your design drawings, with connection design under your registered engineer.
DesignersPrefab and modular
Steel chassis and frame detailing coordinated with LGS, cladding and services models.
PrefabScoping call
Twenty minutes on what is short, which software, and what the acceptance standard is.
Fixed-fee pilot
A defined batch with a named Australian reviewer and a first-pass-yield number.
Dedicated seat
Convert on the second engagement. Your hours, your systems, our team leader, monthly reporting.
Common questions
Do you design connections?
Only under your engineer's documented supervision, to their connection schedule or their calculations. Standard connections from your engineer's schedule are detailed as a matter of course; anything requiring design is flagged before modelling starts.
Which fabrication categories can you document to?
We detail to AS/NZS 5131 CC1–CC3 requirements as specified by your engineer, including the traceability and drawing-content expectations of Steelwork Compliance Australia audits.
Can you match our existing Tekla environment?
Yes. We work in your Tekla environment with your components, numbering and drawing templates on a virtual desktop, so models and drawings stay on your server.
What is the pilot for steel?
One job: a defined design set, your standards, an agreed drawing count and turnaround, fixed fee. Reviewed by your drawing office manager before anything is fabricated.
How experienced are your Tekla detailers?
Our senior steel detailers have Australian project experience; we build Tekla skill in-house rather than buying it, so every detailer on your account has been through our own checklist-based training and review.
Start with a pilot, not a headcount.
Fixed fee, a named Australian reviewer, and a first-pass-yield number you can check. Convert to a dedicated seat when the work proves itself.
